Dwarf Allamanda - Perennial Beauties in the Store

Dwarf Allamanda s

If you are looking for some bright and cheery color in the warmest months ahead don't overlook Dwarf Allamanda. These beauties are easy to establish and at your local Florida Home Depot now. These dwarfs put on a nice show summer and fall and are perennials in zones 9-11. They are drought tolerant once established. Allamanda does not do well next to the beach and is poisonous if eaten. Pest and disease problems are few and rare.

Rick,
I see these all around town and they always look so perky and colorful. Even in the hottest months... that is a big plus!

I was so close to purchasing one for the new front yard project and went with Cassia Alata instead for the butterfly host plant factor. I used to have a yellow Allamanda of some sort (narrower leaves) that wiggled itself through the slats of a privacy fence. It was stunning when in bloom. Last year's freeze wiped it out.

Is dwarf Allamanda the one that stays like a bush or shrub?

Meems, this one stays under 4 feet and branches quite well especially in full sun. We have been trying for years to get them to flower earlier than June. This year they didn't flower until July. At least they take the heat. It is brutal out there this summer or maybe I am just getting old. I am so looking forward to October.

Candlestick Cassias are so much fun and I think everyone will enjoy them too.

I put allamanda (shrub, not dwarf) in 8 years ago and it flowers beautifully, comes back after freezes, and is extremely drought tolerant (if really well established.) It's one of my lead supporting players.
I'm a big fan of cassias, too. Love the candlestick!

Just a note about your instructions that come with the PENTAS plant I bought at Home Depot-Northlake Palm Beach, Fl.In English it reads: Low, once established. In Spanish it reads Bajo, hasta establecido. That is a TOTAL contradiction. Your Spanish reads low, until established. Correct Spanish would be: Baja una vez establecido

Michael, Thank you so much for taking the time and alerting me. I trusted the tag supplier to do the translation. I really would have had not known without your note. The next tags will say "Baja una vez establecido"
