Comments: Vinca - Catheranthus roseus have been given a new lease on life in Florida. In the late 90's, Blight disease attacked and killed all the Vinca in Florida. In the 90's Goldsmith Seed Co. was breeding resistant Vinca for cancer curing properties and developed a blight resistant strain they called Nirvana. Not only does Nirvana survive the blight, it is the most beautiful and durable Vinca ever produced. It is so durable that the plants last for enough years you can treat it as a perennial in Florida. Plant them in full sun if you have it or in the brightest garden spot you have. These will be available in the Warm Season starting sometime in April 2009 only at Florida Home Depots. The Cora series, also from Goldsmith, has the same disease resistance but a less spectacular color range of flowers and is also available statewide as a warm season annual. Nirvana Vinca gives you a range of colors with outstanding performance for you garden designs and container combinations. Nirvana makes the perfect 'FILLER' plant for any container design intended to grow in a minimum of 6 hours of direct Florida sun. Combine it with Angelonia and Ornamental Sweet Potatoes for eye-catching, top performing, warm season container gardens.
